SARA’ IL TEMPORALE – It Will be for the Storm

Sarà il Temporale
in agguato
a parlarci,
dalle nubi rivelato,
le ondate profumate
e lo scorrere perpetuo dei silenzi,
buchi neri nel rumore.

Sarà l’abbandono
ad insegnarci

dove nasce la forza;
ricordo improvviso,
bolla di luce
sul volto adombrato.

E sarà il fragore
l’attimo a infrangere,
l’azzurro a riempire;

dagli squarci liquefatti
colate di aurore

paesaggi lenti,
tramonti;
lividi mutamenti
e ricordi frammentati,
brandelli alla deriva

nel chiarore che dal giorno
in tenui volute

lento
si disperde.

(1992)

It will be for the storm
lying in ambush

to speak to us,
revealed by clouds,
scented waves
and the eternal flowing of silences,

black holes in noise.

It will be for abandonment
to teach us

where strenght is born;
sudden memory,
bubble of light

on shadowed face.

And it will be for the roar
the moment to scutter,
the blue to refill;

from melted gashes
strained dawns
slow landscapes

sunsets;
livid changes
and fragmented memories,
derived tatters
in the light of day
in slender spirals
gently
dispersing.

BIANCO RICHIAMO – White Recall
Instrumental

CAMMINAVO – I walked

Rigenerato il giorno
sotto le cortine
della grande volta,
dimenticando il capogiro
che scrolla nel silenzio
i pigri momenti;
camminavo.
Una macchia piccola piccola
infinitamente grande
e l’abbandono dentro
l’abbandono dentro,
un altro volto fresco.

Seguendo il nuovo sentiero
condividevo i neri contorni
delle macerie su cui mercanti
di azzurro e verde ricostruiranno
una città, il loro paese;
ed i segnali
i segnali a primavera,
il sole a seguire
i profili tenui,
non un tagliente istante
per dire “torneremo indietro,
anche una sola volta!”.
Torneremo laddove
la luce è uguale all’ombra;
ascolteremo i battiti del tempo;
separeremo le malinconie,
investigando un senso
che ci dica “vivremo!”.
E le lusinghe, le lusinghe,
inganno, promessa, illusione,
allettamento, seduzione,
con forza allontaniamo,
respingiamo verso il buio;

le reliquie portate nel fardello,
la scorza abbandonata sulla strada
come la pelle del serpente,
un nuovo fiore germoglieranno!

Rigenerato il giorno
dimenticando
camminavo

(1994)

Regenerated the day
under the curtains
of the big vault,
forgetting the giddiness
which shrugs in the silence
the lazy moments;
I walked.
A stain small, so small,
infinitely great,
and the abandonement inside,
the abandonement inside,
another fresh face.

Following the new path
I joined the black contours
of the ruins on which traders
of blue and green will rebuild
a city, their land;
and the signals
the signals in springtime,
the sun to follow
the slender outlines,
not a cutting istant
to say: “let’s turn back,
even for just one time more!”
We’ll turn back where
the light is like the shadow,
we’ll listen to the beat of time;
we’ll separate melancholy,
seeking a sense
which says: “we will live!”.
And the allures, the allures,
delusion, promise, illusion,
fallacy, seduction,
let’s boldly flee from,
push them towards the darkness.

The relics carried in a bundle,
the hulls abandoned on the roadside,
like the skin of the snake
a new flower they will germinate.

Regenerated the day
forgetting
I walked.

DOPO LA PIOGGIA – After the Rain

Lieve l’impronta
sul ciglio del fosso
la mano invisibile
con coraggio cancella
le chiazze di luce
qua e là avanzando
nell’ultima ora
prima di ricominciare.

Seguendo i confini
e ancora oltre il silenzio
ho dimenticato
il colore dei fiori
e non importa
se il lungo giorno mi ha segnato!

Per quanto tempo ancora
dovrò rinascere?

Nitido il cerchio
al ritorno del vento;
mutando il passaggio
nessuno ricorderà
di aver dormito
già un’altra estate.

Lieve l’impronta
cancella la paura
illumina la strada
il nuovo tempo
di raggi visibili indivisi,
dilatando il mattino
dopo la pioggia.

(1991)

Soft the imprint
on the brow of the moat,
the invisible hand
blows out boldly
the patches of light,
advancing here and there
during the final hour,
before starting all ever again.

Following the confines,
even beyond the silence,
I forgot
the colours of flowers
and it matters not
if the long day has marked me.

For how long,
have I to be reborn?

Clear the circle
on the return of the wind,
changing the passage,
nobody will remember
to have slept through
yet another summer.

Soft the imprint
cancels the fear,
illuminates the road
the new time
of visible, undivided rays
lenghtening the morning
after the rain

TRACCE NEL NULLA – Traces in Thin Air

I

Incredulo osservavo
le linee di luce,
saltavo i ponti,
gli annessi e i connessi,
mi voltavo senza guardare
mentre il punto
si spostava parallelo
ad ogni nuovo richiamo.

Mi trasformavo mio malgrado
Per somma o sottrazione,
davo acqua alla pianta
secondo il programma
nei mesi e nei secoli
(primo il coraggio),
ne ripulivo le radici
con gelida pazienza
accarezzavo i petali
con costanza e letizia,
ultime amiche
dalla pelle profumata
e la peluria pronunciata appena
lungo la dorsale.

Sconvolte le terre,
in ansia i mari,
baciavo le foglie
con fiducia e costernazione,
mentre per prati spinosi ridevo,
fra la sete e la polvere,
la notte e il risveglio,
sui binari dove un tempo
il martello
il vento sfiorava
e ne accarezzava l’alito
ad ogni nuovo passaggio.

Resta e riposa l’autunno,
attende il cambio di umore
e lo fraintende,
precipita incalzando
con malizia e invenzione
a più voci sussurrando un’uscita
verso il prossimo incontro

II

Incinta al mio fianco
hai cambiato nome e paese;
ti presento ad un mio migliore amico,

per caso mi accorgo

che sei sua moglie;
gli domando come stai,
non si ricorda,
non ti riconosce;

ho deciso di punire sua moglie,
ma sì, forse punisco anche la mia;
la licenzio in mille pezzi,
la soffio come il vetro
e la frantumo,
le tolgo le macchie,
la salvo con nome
e mi addormento.

Sogno un supermercato
tutto d’oro e d’argento,
ne prendo il possesso
e la residenza
in carta da bollo;
mi risveglio in un bosco
dai tetti rossi
e le lentiggini in fiore,
calde incertezze,
acqua senza sapone,
una corda tesa
e sette note da interpretare
secondo la scrittura,
un addio rinnegato,
pane secco sbriciolato
nella mano
e un finale provvisorio,
cantato a mezza voce.

III

Assopito osservavo
migliaia e milioni,
l’uno e lo zero,
la dieta naturale;
cacciavo la strega
con mistica precisione,
ne regolavo l’intervallo
modificandone i valori
Mi fidavo senza crederci
abbastanza.

Nera una foresta
poco più in là,
irsuta e arricciolata
su se stessa,
ripiegata su paure lontane,
senza famiglia o terra
per riposare,
in guerra o pace,
in fuga o canone
diverso o inverso,
senza contare poi

la sorte propizia
o la fortuna sfacciata.

Avverso il vento,
costante nella notte del tuono,
dove il calore dell’abbraccio,
in una tana improvvisa
o improvvisata,
l’eterna indecisione scioglie;

la spande per fiumi
e torrenti in piena,
prima o poi alimentando
una palude di lacrime.
La attraversa e la prosciuga,
ricostruisce l’immagine
compatibile,
ad ogni nuovo movimento.

IV

E venne il topo
che si mangiò il gatto
che morse il cane;
a ritroso la storia
si confonde,
si lamenta del servizio,
pretende un finale;
esatto il participio
le risponde,
l’immagine cade,
zoppa si rialza e sbanda,
declina ogni responsabilità
e fa lo gnorri.

Nega alcun legame,
accenna ad un sogno meraviglioso,
esprime un’idea,
piagnucola un verbo
o un sostantivo.
Intanto una barriera
di premesse si avvicina,
mobile e perturbata;
gli opposti non coincidono,
si oppongono e sbiadiscono
in docili malinconie,
a ricordare solitudini
e stanchezze prevedibili
o invisibili
in quel preciso istante.

Mezzogiorno fra le righe?
Un accenno mancato al tempo?
E il tempo mancato?
E il fuoco che l’acqua spense?
E il bastone?

V

Studio i significati
ed ogni minimo dettaglio.
Rinvio al giorno prima,
all’ingrosso mi deludo,
distratto e affaticato.
E se il topo non si presta,
elude il controllo
o il lasciapassare,

il gatto lesto con un balzo
in topo si trasforma,
vittima o vittimista,
dominato, a tratti contenuto;
sdrucciola su lamentazioni
a luci rosse e lume di candela.

Sul lato opposto,
cambia il topo i connotati,
da gatto conduce il gioco
con dolce crudeltà,
si affranca e si affligge
in moto perpetuo
mentre il ciclo si rinnova
concentrico
ad ogni nuova configurazione.

VI

Un treno arriva in ritardo
e chiede scusa.
Avanza a fatica,
rimpiangendo le stazioni
precedenti.
Scruta la pianura
con fervore incandescente,
la intuisce,
infine scorre.

VII

Sette piccoli villaggi
globali o solitari
si dipanano lungo la scrittura
in molli curve
e profumo misterioso,
ora lenti e dolci,
a volte disperati
singhiozzando.
a pochi centimetri
il vuoto avanza,
risolve memorie
e presentimenti,
trucca le rughe
con abili gesti
e colori azzeccati;
imposta la mappa su scala infinita.

Incauto osservavo
i mari in fiamme,
le terre armonizzate,
i venti celesti o quotidiani.
Senza ombra di dubbio
guardavo e non vedevo,
dormivo e non sognavo,
non esistevo.
Facevo e disfacevo,
correvo le occasioni,
rinunciavo e poi accettavo,

lasciavo un segno,
uno qualsiasi,
una firma in agguato
che cambiasse il silenzio in oro,
ad ogni nuova costruzione.

Accento non resta
o schermatura,
né un percorso stampato
esigente o informale.
Scompaiono i destini,
si spezzano su polvere innocente.
Avido l’occhio
ne riassume i motivi
con logica intransigenza.

Cala la tela,
si inceppa l’arcolaio;
un turbine di fuliggine audace
rincara la dose,
mortifica la meta
e la disillude,

Domina la vista dall’alto,
a violare nuovi paesaggi,
si dileguano le terre,
evacuano gli oceani
discreti si eclissano
in un girotondo infinito;
si congeda lo scenario,
lasciando fugaci impronte,
sette gocce periodiche
come tracce nel nulla

I

Incredolous I observed
The lines of light,
I jumped over the bridges,
over the accessories,
I turned around without looking
while the point
moved parallel,
at every new recall.

I changed anyway
for addition or subtraction,
I watered the plant
according to the program
over months and centuries
(first came the courage),
I cleaned its roots
with cold patience
I caressed its petals
with constancy and delight
last friends of mine
with scented skins
and the hairs hardly marked
along the ridge.

Confused the lands,
worried the seas,
I kissed the leaves
with trust and consternation,
while across fields of thorns I laughed,
between thirst and dust,
night and awakening,
on rails where once
the hammer
grazed the wind
and stroked its breath
at every new passage.

Stays and rests the autumn,
awaits the change of humor
and misunderstands it,
falls down increasing
with malice and invention
in more voices whispering an exit
towards the next meeting.

II

Pregnant, besides me,
you’ve changed name and country;
I introduce you to one “the best friend of mine”,
by chance I realize
that you are his wife;
I ask him how you are,
he doesn’t remember,
he doesn’t recognize you;

I decide to punish his wife,
why not? I’ll punish mine too;
I sack her into many pieces,
I blow her like the glass
and I crash her,
I remove her stains
I save her as,
and I fall asleep.

I dream of a supermarket
all in silver and gold,
I take possession
and residence
in official paper;
I wake up in a forest
of red roofs
and freckles in blossom,
warm doubts
water without soap,
and a stretched rope
and seven notes to interpretate
according to the writing
a denied farewell,
stale bread crumbled
in the hand
and a provisional finale
sung half voice.

III

Drowsy I observed
thousands and millions
one and zero,
the natural diet;
I hunted the witch
With mystical precision,
I regulated her interval
modifying her values.
I trusted without believing
enough

Black a forest,
a little further beside,
hairy and curled
on itself
folded up on far fears,
without family or land
to rest,
in war or peace,
in fugue or canon
diverse or inverse,
without considering
good fortune
or cheeky luck.

Adverse the wind,
constant in the night of the thunder,
where the warmth of the embrace
in a sudden
or improvised lair

the eternal indecision
melts down;
it spreads along rivers
and streams in flood,
sooner or later feeding
a marsh of tears.
It crosses and dries it,
it rebuilds its compatible image
at every new movement.

IV

Then came the mouse
whicht ate the cat,
which bit the dog;
backwards the story
gets confused,
complains about the service,
wantss an ending;
exact the participle
answers,
the image falls down,
lamely stands up again and skids,
refuses any responsability
and feigns ignorance.

It denies every bond,
mentions a wonderful dream,
expresses an idea,
whimpers a verb
or a noun.
Meanwhile a barrier
of premises approaches,
movable and perturbed;
contraries don’t coincide,
oppose and fade
in docile melancholies,
to remember loneliness,
and foreseeable weariness
or invisible
at that exact moment.

Midday between the lines?
A lost allusion to the time?
And the time lost?
And the fire which the water put out?
And the stick?

V

I study the meanings
and every single detail.
I postpone to the day before,
wholesale disappointed
absent-minded and tired.
And if the mouse doesn’t give in,
it avoids control
or safe-conduct,

quickly the cat jumping
into the mouse changes,
victim or self-pitier,
dominated,sometimes reserved;
It slips on complains
hard-core and candle light.

On the opposite side
changes the mouse its description,
as a cat it leads the game
with sweet cruelty,
it frees and distresses itself
in perpetual motion,
while the cycle re-starts
concentric
at every new configuration.

VI

A train arrives late
and apologizes.
Proceeds tired,
regretting the previous
stations.
It peers the plain
with incandescent fervour,
overseess it,
and then goes on.

VII

Seven little villages
global or solitary
wind up along the writing
in gentle curves
and misterious fragrance,
slow and sweet,
sometimes desperate
sighing.
A few centimetres beside
absence approaches,
solves memories
and presages,
disguises wrinkles
with clever gesture
and perfect colours
it bases the map on infinite scale.

Careless I observed
the seas in flames,
the harmonized lands,
the azure or daily winds.
Without any shadow of doubt
I looked and I didn’t see,
I slept and I didn’t dream,
I didn’t exist.
I did and I undid,
I ran occasions
I renounced and then accepted,

I left a sign,
any sign
a signature in ambush
which could turn silence into gold,
at every new construction.

No accent remains,
or shielding,
nor a printed itinerary
exacting or informal.
Destinies disappear,
break down on innocent dust.
Greedy, the eye
sums up the themes
with logical intransigence.

The curtain comes down,
the wool-winding gets stuck;
a whirl of daring soot
raises the price,
humbles the goal
and undeceives it.

Dominates the sight from the top,
to violate new landscapes,
lands make off,
oceans evacuate,
discreetly they eclipse
in an infinite circle.
The scene takes its leave,
leaving fleeting prints,
seven periodical drops
like traces nowhere.
